I like song of songs, if anyone wants to tell me anything about it. I was looking at it a little and I love it so much.
Song 1:3 (ESV)
your anointing oils are fragrant; your name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you.
the entire hebrew language is amazing, wish i knew it and the greek but there is so little time I guess. anyways fragrant means:
H7381 רֵיַח reyach (ray'-akh) n-m.
1. odor (as if blown)
[from H7306]
KJV: savour, scent, smell.
Root(s): H7306
[?]
the root is this word, it is the word for spirit I think:
H7306 רוַּח ruwach (roo'-akh) v.
1. (properly) to blow, i.e. breathe
2. (literally, only) to smell
3. (by implication) perceive
4. (figuratively) to anticipate, enjoy
the song of songs is considered the 3rd book of solomon. anyways another little thing that i was happy to look at was the word for kiss in song of songs:
H5401 נָשַׁק nashaq (naw-shak') v.
1. to kiss
2. (literally or figuratively) touch
3. (as a mode of attachment) to equip with weapons
KJV: armed (men), rule, kiss, that touched.
Root(s): H5400
Compare: H2388, H2836
the root is:
H5400 נָשַׂק nasaq (naw-sak') v.
1. to catch fire
KJV: burn, kindle.
then there is this word for the bride i think and then you see YAH:
H7474 רַעיָה ra`yah (rah-yaw') n-f.
1. a female associate
[feminine of H7453]
KJV: fellow, love.
Root(s): H7453
H3050 יָהּ Yahh (yaw) n/p.
1. Jah, the sacred name
[contraction for H3068, and meaning the same]
KJV: Jah, the Lord, most vehement.
Root(s): H3068
then this last one:
Song 2:4 (ESV)
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
that word love is this:
H160 אַהֲבָה 'ahabah (a-hab-aw) n-f.
1. love
[feminine of H158 and meaning the same]
Root(s): H158
[?]
the root:
H158 אַהַב 'ahab (ah'-hab) n-m.
1. affection (in a good or a bad sense)
[from H157]
KJV: love(-r).
Root(s): H157
the root of the root:
H157 אָהַב אָהֵב 'ahab (aw-hab') (or raheb {aw-habe'}) v.
1. to have affection for (sexually or otherwise)
יהוה (YHWH) < 4 letter name
אַהֲבָה 'ahabah
no idea what mystery this is, just i see that both the 4 letter name and this wonderful word "ahabah" both have X2 ה in the same positions.
reading song of songs with some kind of thing that trys to explain each word and looking at the roots of those words really kind of shows more beauty. song of songs is one of my favorite books from God even though i don't know it well, it is just too beautiful.
i don't think that the strongs concordance is good enough but it is helpful. wish I had some prophet like esdras, he would be able to explain way better than strongs, he knew hebrew i bet!
